Popular footwear brand VIVOBAREFOOT grew its online international orders by 83%

The Challenge

Leading footwear brand VIVOBAREFOOT is at the forefront of the barefoot running movement. VIVOBAREFOOT had been selling its minimalist barefoot shoes online to worldwide shoppers, but common cross-border ecommerce difficulties hindered the brand’s efforts to expand its global footprint and bring its revolutionary shoes to more international customers.

The company was able to offer only partially localized online shopping experience to a few markets. It allowed shoppers a narrow choice of six currencies (GBP, USD, EUR, AUD, CAD, and SEK), the ability to pay with only credit card and PayPal, and no option to view tax and duties calculation. Additionally, the company was able to offer only limited and costly shipping methods. VIVOBAREFOOT was keenly aware of the necessity of providing an excellent localized shopping experience.

However, the logistical complications and formidable expenses demanded by covering all elements of cross-border selling in-house are extremely challenging for even the very largest merchants.
