International conversion rates increased by a remarkable 110% since partnering with Global-e and global revenues grew by 82%

The Challenge

Loquet London was selling its jewellery collection and customised lockets online to shoppers worldwide since the brand’s launch. However, many barriers prevented the brand from maximising its international sales. The online store supported only three currencies (GBP, USD and EUR) and accepted payments only via a limited number of methods – major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard and American Express) and PayPal.

Furthermore, many international customers experienced difficulties making payments through the website and would instead opt to give their credit card details over the telephone. The brand was also facing many customer queries regarding duties and taxes; many international customers did not understand how much they needed to pay and whether the duties and taxes were included within the final purchase cost. As the AOV of jewellery as a luxury item frequently exceeds the local import duties threshold in many markets worldwide, this hampered the brand’s conversion rates and was one its main pain points in trying to enhance its global sales.

Loquet London was seeking a solution that would help them to increase their international sales and expand their global reach into new international markets by removing all barriers preventing international shoppers from purchasing on their website. In addition to its wide collection of jewellery, Loquet London offers their customers a unique bespoke service, and they sought a partner with a powerful cross-border ecommerce solution that would be able to support this service while also providing international customers with a seamless, online shopping experience.

The Solution

In order to overcome the many obstacles that were thwarting conversion rates, and to boost their international online sales, Loquet London chose to partner with Global-e, the leading provider of cross-border ecommerce solutions.

By implementing Global-e’s comprehensive Smart Cross-Border™ solutions, Loquet London was immediately able to offer international shoppers in over 200 destinations worldwide a seamless and localised shopping experience, meeting its high standards of customer service, including:

  • Localised welcome pop-up and marketing banner – presenting market-specific key marketing messages for shoppers including promoting free shipping offering
  • Local pricing in local currencies – 95+ currencies supported. Also, pricing with duties and taxes included in the product price (PLP and PDP) to increase conversions in specific markets
  • Localised checkout available in 21 languages
  • Guaranteed calculation of all import duties and taxes with the option of prepayment at checkout to prevent any surprise charges upon delivery
  • Attractive shipping proposition Free express shipping of all orders across all markets
  • A variety of commonly used local payment methods, more than 150 methods are supported including local and alternative payment methods such as open invoice and Apple Pay
  • Transparent and easy returns process including pre-paid returns

In the USA, which is responsible for 50% of the brand’s international sales, a staggering 25% of mobile transactions have been carried out using Apple Pay since the beginning of 2019.

The Results

Within one year of partnering with Global-e, Loquet London has seen a remarkable rise in their cross-border online sales: a 110% increase in conversion rates across all international markets, an increase of 138% in international online orders across all markets, and an 82% increase in international revenues. This substantial growth has been seen in all key markets, and notably in the US, the brand’s largest international market, which has seen its number of international orders more than double.

The seamless, localised shopping experience and support of a wide range of local and alternative payment methods enables customers to pay with the same payment methods that they would use for local transactions, which also increases conversion rates. In the Netherlands, for example, where the number of orders grew by 167%, 65% of shoppers choose to pay using Klarna and iDeal, which are more popular than credit cards and PayPal combined:

About Loquet London

Created by Sheherazade Goldsmith alongside Laura Bailey, Loquet London is a British fine jewellery brand that launched in 2013 and takes a contemporary approach to the age-old idea of a keepsake locket. Loquet London has been developed alongside a wealth of young creative talent together with established London jeweller, Michael Ventura. The clear crystal face encased in gold is designed to be opened and personalised with collectable charms and birthstones. From a lucky horseshoe, a gold initial, a September sapphire or a diamond studded shooting star, each ‘Loquet’ is a unique gift, a love letter coded in charms. In addition to the lockets, and very much in keeping with the sentimental values of the brand, Loquet has developed collections of rings, bracelets and earrings. The brand also offers a bespoke service, allowing clients the opportunity to create entirely unique pieces.
